Swimming has always come naturally to me but in water polo, I found my sport with the addition of strategy and teamwork. A friend introduced me to water polo in elementary school assuming I would like it because at the time I was in soccer and swimming and water polo is a bit of each. I tried it out, made a ton of friends, learned about discipline, competition and teamwork and started a healthy obsession with the sport.
I would like to continue to play competitively in college and believe it would be a mutually beneficial relationship between me and your school. As an athlete I am happy to put in hours of hard work during water polo practice and weight lifting sessions, focussing on technique, strategy and building strength. While my individual talents are strong where I really stand out is as a team player. I have a high water polo IQ - always aware of where players are, how they play, how much time is left and what the most effective play to carry out is. I pride myself on my ability to work the ball for my teamates benefit, knowing when to pass to shoot or to fake.
I am used to and enjoy working hard at my sport and at school, maintaining my status on the Canadian honor roll, and as an Academic All American. I intend to do the same in college.
