Personal Statement

I am the starting Libero on my Club team Seaside 18 and Varsity High School Volleyball team in San Diego, CA.  This will be my fourth and final year on Varsity as a Senior at Scripps Ranch High School and second year as captain.  Our team won the Western League Championships in my freshman year, and came in second last year in our league.  In my junior year, I was chosen onto the CIF San Diego Championship Team 2 as the Libero.   I started playing volleyball at the age of 14 and was recruited in my first year to the 14-Black  Seaside Volleyball Club team in San Diego, as starting Libero.  We took home the Silver Medal at JO’s in the 14 Open Division, losing a tight tie-breaker third set to Puerto Rico.  I continued playing club volleyball, playing up on the 16 Black team with Seaside in 2014, 16 Black at Coast Volleyball in 2015,  and then started for the 17 Black Team at Coast Volleyball Club in San Diego, CA with Coach Darrell Dilmore.    Being a student athlete is a goal I expect to achieve in college.  I am driven both academically as well as athletically. I presented an abstract poster presentation at a National Medical Meeting in October 2015 highlighting my research in childhood Obesity and have just published the manuscript of my work in the ESPEN Clinical Nutrition.     I continue to work hard and play hard and am committed to pushing myself athletically as far as I can reach. I am extremely fast (comes from my prior training as a fencer) and mentally tough.  Volleyball requires physical as well as mental skills.  I know I have both the mental and physical stamina to succeed in volleyball as a college bound athlete.

I am exploring colleges that will push me academically as well as athletically.  Time on the field to me is equal to time in the classroom.  Both endeavor to train me as a future leader.  An environment in which I can train my mind as well as my body is one that I seek.  I look forward to having an opportunity to meet you and to discuss being part of your team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
