Brandon Mortensen '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6'-2" Track & Field athlete attending Arrowhead H.S., ranked by Sports Illustrated as one of the top 50 H.S. sports programs in the U.S.  During my Junior season I anchored our 4x400 relay team to a D1 8th place finish.  I nearly jumped 6'-6" to win Sectionals, eventually finishing 10th at the State meet.

I am a LATE BLOOMER and continue to develop physically.  As a Junior I posted the 4th best indoor high hurdle time for all Juniors in the State.  I was also lead-off on our varsity 4x200 relay team that posted the 3rd best time in the State prior to State competition.

I did not run either the 200m or 400m my Freshman or Sophomore seasons.  As a Junior, I ran each event about four times, the 400m twice at the D1 State Championships. 

My GPA average has steadily increased since my freshman year, and I take pride in academic success.  My major is undecided, and I am open geographically and to all school divisions.  I believe that I possess the attributes necessary to perform at a high level in college, either in an individual event or as a decathlete.  

Without any practice I jumped 6'-4" at the AAU Indoor National Championships, held February 2012.  In addition, in December 2011 I ran a PR 7.79 in the 55M HH.  I'm encouraged about these results as I have yet to incorporate running into my off-season training.
