Tanner Baker '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Tanner Baker, and I’m an eighth grader in GLOUCESTER, VA. I developed a passion for running after entering middle school. I started running with my mom and dad, in the trails near our house. I soon realized it was something I loved doing and couldn’t get enough of it. I trained on my own for my first year of running, learning everything I could and pushing myself everyday. I soon quailified for nationals and have already traveled near and far to compete with the best in the age group. Now that I’m in eighth grade I can train with the high school team and I really enjoy that. I juggle a demanding training regiment and excell in school. I’m focused and a very hard worker.  I have big goals and dreams that all include running. My collegiate goals are to run a sub 4 minute mile and place at the NCAA level for both track and cross country. I’d like to be at the top of my class. Even at my young age, I’m a leader for my team. I enjoy that role and having fun with my team. Looking ahead to the future I see myself being successful both academically and athletically.
