William Hillenbrand '21 Recruiting Profile

I've had a passion for pole vaulting since I first tried in the 7th grade.  There is something exhilarating about flying through the air and I love the technical aspects of the sport.  My ultimate goal is to major in aerospace engineering and work for NASA on the Mars project.

I believe that my love for science and physics is what made me interested in pole vault.  I take all honors classes and maintain an above 4.0 average.  I also am on the drumline for my high school and enjoy attending football games and participating in marching band.

I was lucky to find a great coach, Kris Allison, that is close to home.  He has worked with me to develop my technique and I usually place in the top 3 in competition.  For my upcoming freshman season, my goal is to qualify for state, as well as the Texas Relays.  I'm dedicated to improving my performance and work with my club coach 2-3 times a week. 

My goal for pole vaulting is to vault in college (maybe the Olympics) and also continue until I'm in my 60's.
