I have been throwing the shot and discus since I was 12 years old. Since I began throwing I have aspired to throw at the collegiate level. Throwing in college is a wonderful opportunity that I want to experience.
I lift and practice technique year round and compete in track meets in the spring, summer and winter. My lifting regimen includes Olympic lifts such as power clean and jerk and traditional powerlifts like bench press and squat. I have also trained with several college coaches to refine my technique. Over the past year I have also started to learn the technique for hammer and weight and began competing in those events. As a sophomore I was a team captain and my coaches looked to me to help our other throwers develop their technique. I am a very coachable athlete and I strive to work the hardest and be the best.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a GPA over 4.0. I am in the top 20 in my class and plan on increasing my class rank in my remaining years of high school. I take all of the AP and Honors courses that are offered. School is as important to me if not more important to me than athletics.
I have several interests other than track. I played goalkeeper on the varsity soccer team, lettering as a sophomore on a district champion team. As a youth player, I played club soccer and had the privilege of playing internationally in Scotland and Sweden. Aside from athletics, I am president of the Future Business Leaders of America club in my school and I also volunteer my time to the Key Club and help coach middle school throwing events.
I desire to go to a college where I can push myself in the classroom and be successful in throwing. I ultimately want to find the best athletic and academic college match where I can achieve success in the classroom and compete against high level college athletes.
