I began running at the age of 7 as a way to earn rewards during recess in first grade. It wasn’t until my first cross country race via USATF Junior Olympics a year and a half later, however, that my real love for running was ignited. The excitement of competition and pushing myself past my perceived limits has fueled my lifelong devotion to the sport.
I feel very fortunate to have developed, through 8+ years of competitive running, the ability to cope with the inevitable pains and mental disappointments of doing intensive work. Discipline, patience, and mental endurance are the habits I am most proud of for having honed because they allow me to continually optimize my competitive edge in running as well as in all other areas of my life.
My best events are the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. My vision for high school is to win the California State XC Championships and become the next high school sub-4:00 miler. Beyond that, I want to stay healthy and ready to explode my potential at the college-level and beyond.
Academically, I am a passionate learner with a special interest in math and science. I am currently taking advantage of as many of the challenging course offerings at my high school as I can and I plan to continue to take my studies in these subjects as deeply as possible in college.
