I have loved running as long as I can remember and always aspired to be an athlete. When I was little all I wanted to do was exercise. It was just something that was always on my mind and I would run around, play soccer, and do anything that involved running. I began running track and cross country as a high schooler and made Varsity as a freshman.
My junior year was tough finding out I was anemic and had a Vitamin D deficiency; the result was that I did not PR once in that season. I am regaining my strength and my times are closer to what I performed in my sophomore year. I am feeling much stronger and my goal for my senior year is to continue training hard and improve my times in the 5K, 3200 and 1600 races. I also plan on staying focused on my grades and finishing strong academically this year.
My passion is running and I believe this is what makes me a good candidate to join a college cross country or distance running team. I am strong mentally and physically and when I am competing, I give it my all; no matter how easy or hard it may be. I am always pushing myself towards a new personal record, and knowing that I gave it my all motivates me to learn from my mistakes. My character makes me different from other recruits in that I am inspired to push my body past my limits and I am highly-motivated to achieve new heights in my running career, as well as in my academics.
