Timothy Westberg '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Timothy Westberg I am 17 years old and currently attend Vista Murrieta High School. I joined the track team my freshman year where I immediately fell in love with Pole Vault. My freshman I achieved a height of 9’6 which is not very impressive but my sophomore year went on to achieve a height of 12’5 going on to make varsity as a sophomore and being one of the top three vaulters on the track team my sophomore year. Junior year I attended training camps with Coach Chapman from Murrieta Valley and learned technique but was unfortunately involved in a car accident that put me out from Pole vaulting up until the last meet  in which I was still able to make a height of 12 week after only joining the season with 3 weeks left. My inability to pole vault during my junior year track season has inspired me even more to all I can to be better. I am attending a school camp that vista is putting on for Pole Vault along with Fall and Winter Camps at Murrieta Valley and possible Great Oak. The more advice I get the more of a chance I have at achieve my high school goal of 16 feet. Though these seems like a rather large accomplishment to completed in such a small time I believe with dedication and time I will be able to achieve such a great height in my senior year. My life time goal for Pole Vault is to be one of the best and to inspire others to do the amazing sport. Pole Vault has brought me and extensive amount of joy into my life I hope I can inspire others to try it as well to find their own enjoyment in the challenge Pole Vault presents. Other goals are to achieve a feeling of self accomplishment and be successful with any challenge which is presented to me completing it best as I can. I hope to study in the field of Computer Science at a good college at pursue a job with government involving programming. I aspire to be someone others can look up to and be an example of a courteous and respectful citizen in today’s society.
