My name is Lee Mitchell III but I go by Tre. My goal in college is to receive a business degree as well as compete at the highest level against the best in the country. I have begun that journey at Saddleback Junior College where I currently have a 3.3 GPA after my freshman year. I have competed in the long jump at the highest level in California. At Saddleback Junior College I placed 8th in the California Junior College State Championship in the long jump. In my senior year in high school I earned my way to the California High School State Championship where I placed 8th in the long jump. More recently in June I qualified and competed at the USATF Juniors Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Oregon where I placed 7th in the Long Jump.
I plan to redshirt this season and not compete for Saddleback Junior College but I will continue to go to school, train and compete unattached at open track meets. So I will have 3 full years of College eligibility. I know it takes hard work and dedication to compete in college athletics and be a good student. My goal is to focus on both. I plan to work very hard and attain a business degree while also improving my skills on the track.
I will bring positive leadership to whichever team I compete for. I realize track events are run as individual events but it is also a team sport and I want to be an important part of a great team. I am a very coachable athlete with necessary leadership qualities and a strong work ethic. I think it’s important to be well rounded and I am looking for a college environment that can help me grow as a man.
