Alekos Mitchel '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alekos Mitchel and I just finished my  Junior Year at Huntington Beach High School. I was born in Utah, raised in the midwest and moved to California in the middle of my high school years.  My character has grown as I've learned to appreciate athletics for giving me the opportunity to connect with teammates who also have the work ethic and passion for competition. I enjoy walking onto any team or sport and earning respect by working the hardest than anyone else out there. I thrive on competition, have been elected Captain on every sport team I've been fortunate to be a part of and enjoy challenging myself by trying anything new.  I was President of the National Junior Honor Society and am a State Mile Champion in Illinois. I am a three sport athlete running Cross Country and Track but also enjoy Varsity Basketball.  My 3-mile PR was 15:22 at Sunset League Finals on a hilly course placing 4th; shaving 38 seconds on that same course within a season.  I enjoy the longer distance of the mile and two mile because I thrive on the mental challenge.  I take honor classes and AP classes and have a 4.2 GPA. I like to push myself, academically, physically and mentally. I'm not afraid of change because I know it makes me grow and adaptable and it's fun.  My collegiate goals are to run cross country and track for a college that will also provide the opportunity for a great education.   I hope to add to any team my leadership and energy and work ethic and talent.  I hope to pursue engineering or business.
