One defining moment in my high school career as a runner was being one of top sophomores on the team. I was able to run the 6th fastest sophomore time in Ayala cross country history, which was a major confidence boost in my athletic ability. My team and I were able to advance to the 2nd round of the post season, but unfortunately just fell short of the state championship meet. The very next year, we promised to make the state meet, but weren't even able to make it into the 2nd round of the post season that year. The disappointment that we faced that year was horrific and has thus pushed me to become a better and smarter runner. After the shock of being knocked out of the 1st round of the post season, my team and I were able to learn a valuable lesson; we can never underestimate any team and must always give everything that we have in every race because it might be our last.
