Running has always come fairly naturally for me, and I've always enjoyed it. However, I never took it seriously until track season my sophomore year, when I broke 5 minutes and got a season personal record of 4:53.
After my sophomore track season I put in more of an effort to run more regularly. During the summer before my junior year, I ran about 2 days a week, and I was really looking forward to my junior cross country season, but I was injured at the beginning, and I was only able to race some of the last races of the season. Even with my injury, minimal training, and limited racing, I became the #2 varsity runner for my school.
After cross country, my injury healed, and I started pre-track season training, running 4-5 days a week. Once track season started, I immediately started improving. On the second race of the season my personal 1600m record went from a 4:52 to a 4:41. It continued to drop until where it is now, 4:30.
I realize now, that in running, and in life, you can only get out as much as you put in. I want to be the best runner I can be. I now take training very seriously, and am willing to do whatever it takes, to be the best that I can be. I hope to break break 16 minutes in cross country, and break 4:20 in the 1600 meters. I Have the drive, and the ability.
I hope to find a college that can provide a quality education, will help me to improve myself, and that will ultimately help me be the most competitive runner I can be. I strongly believe that at the right college, under the right coach, I have potential to be a successful collegiate athlete. I am easy to coach, and I will do whatever it takes to improve.
