Jackson Ross '23 Recruiting Profile

I am extremely coachable and I am incredibly hard working. I believe those two things are my greatest strengths. Tennis has made me who I am today. It has pushed me to my breaking point, to the point of me almost wanting to quit and it forced me to step out of my comfort zone. Throughout my career, I have suffered from a couple of chronic injuries. At the time, I believed they were ruining my career. However, as I look back on how I spent my time while I was injured, I realized that I learned a lot about how I was going about the sport, who I want to be and how differently I want to look at it. My injuries made me miss the court and I felt like I really figured out how much I love the sport. I also came to the harsh reality that if I don’t work everyday, then I’m not going to reach my goals. I know now that every time I step onto the court, it is imperative that I give the game my all and that I have to enjoy the grind. I could write a novel on the many different matches I’ve played throughout my career thus far, but I truly believe that every match has made me a better player. I am not the kid that smashes rackets after matches and get really mad. I review the match myself and then I think of what I can do better in the next ones. That specific quality is what I believe makes me a player you want to recruit.
