I dream of becoming a great engineer, since I love to convert what were once ideas and make them into a reality. That is something that a great engineer does. I also dream to become the best tennis player that I can be, and I will keep doing what I must to improve my game. I would like to take these two passions and combine them in my college experience to get the most out of it. I am fascinated by the idea of being able to study engineering all while playing tennis on a competitive level, and I will strive to make this idea into a reality. I want to be able to play tennis in a competitive institution that offers me a degree in engineering.
I can make a great part in a team, as I am very dedicated to the sport, and that is essential to any player that wants to play in a competitive scene. I love the sport so much that I combined two of my favorite things, drawing and tennis, and I made a logo for the PRTA (Puerto Rico Tennis Association). I have had experience working in teams on and off of the tennis court, and I know how to behave in team situations. I started playing this sport fairly late, but I have still managed to improve fast enough to catch up with other players in my category who started playing years before me. Even though I have improved my game so much, I know that with the help of a future college coach i can keep on improving my game even more. I have a lot of potential to become a great tennis player.
I am very mentally and physically tough, as I train twelve hours a week and improve my tennis game, all while performing very well at school. I take rigorous classes, like Enriched Calculus and a couple of AP's, and achieve a GPA of 3.81, all while achieving good results in my tennis. Most people would crack and give up their sport if exposed to such hard classes, but I know how to manage my time and endure any adversities that come in my way.
It is very important to possess leadership skills, whether it is on the tennis court or in a job project. As a member of the National Honor Society, the Italian Honor Society, and the Art Honor Society, I feel that I am more than prepared to be a leader. I also do many community service projects, including making tutorial videos online that teach people how to draw and collecting unused toys to clean and deliver them for Three Kings Day (A Hispanic Holiday celebrated around Christmas season).
I will keep on training to maintain both my academic and athletic status and look forward to being able to play the sport I love while receiving a great education. Even though it may be a rigorous and a draining task, I will practice and attend more tennis tournaments to make sure I improve. I will try my best to be able to make my ideas a reality, because if I do, I will be one step closer to achieving my dream.
