Calvin Garland '11 Recruiting Profile

Hey to all you coaches out there. My name is Calvin, and a passion of mine is tennis. I have been playing since the age of 4, and I do not intend to quit soon. I am 5'11", 155 pounds, and I do not exactly know how to tell you my speed. . . but I push myself to the fullest when we do sprints at my club. When it comes to what I can offer to you as a player for your team, all I can tell you is I like to make upsets, which I have come to strive for during my time on the tennis team at my school. When it comes to schools, it's somewhat overwhelming to me. My tennis coach Aaron Marchetti says that as long as I keep working that I could be where I want to be some day, and I believe he is right. I am looking for a school with a tennis team and a medical field, as I am interested in some day becoming a doctor like my mom. What I really am hoping for when it comes to college tennis is a full-blown experience, something knew that will make me want to be the best that I can be, which is something I already have been striving towards when playing in Futures tournaments around from where I live. Also, when it comes to where I would like to go to school, all I can say is that if it's in the midwest, or near, then it works for me. I also am not just looking for any particular type of tennis school or team, seeing as I am very new to this type of stuff I hope to just get a taste of what the college tennis experience is like, since I have practiced so much just to get to that position. This pretty much sums up all I have to say or offer to anybody interested in getting ahold of me in regards of my tennis playing ability, thank you for spending your time reading about who I am!
