Leonard Mathews '12 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coach my names is Leonard Mathews II. I am Senior  at Merrillville High School in Merrillville, IN. I am a speedy 5'6 with a very surprising defensive game. I have held the title of MVP of Conference for My 3 years in high school and ranked as high as 4th in the State. I have not been named team captain because of my age but i do take the role of leading and teaching my team as much as possible when I can. I am looking for a school that can provide me with the nations top competition while playing my freshman year. I am seeking financial support during this search and it will play a big role in where I choose to go. I am a very focused student and tennis player. I like to set realistic but challenging goals for my future and reach them also. I am also down-to-earth and I know there is a time to have fun as well as work. Knowing this makes me a very hard working on and off the court. I am looking for a school that will provide me the best coaching possible and people that don't only care about me performing well on the tennis court but also in my classes. One of my major goals is to become a professional tennis player, but I do realize that there are great players in the world other than me and I have prepared a back-up plan for that. I plan to major in Business; possibly General Management or Marketing. I plan to spread my gift of being a great people person by teaching tennis to people of all ages, no matter how far I go in the tennis world.
