It might seem that I am a regular kid or just a good student athlete but there is so much more that not many people know about me. I lost my grandmother to smoking and a dog to cancer when I was young. I have pushed myself in swimming for them because I want them to look down at me and say how good I am today because of them. When I was younger, around 5-6, my brother started swimming and it got me interested because it was something that looked like I would enjoy doing because I saw all the smiles on the swimmers faces. My parents ended up putting me on a summer swim team’s prep or younger kids group which gave me a chance to learn how to swim. I really enjoyed it so they let me try out for the club team that is near my house, SWAC. This got me into it more and more. I am here today but on a different team due to one person, my brother. I have learned through swimming that it doesn’t matter about winning but it is about having fun and trying your hardest. I have also learned that you need push through pain if you want to go anywhere because if push yourself then you are breaking barriers, which will make you overall a better swimmer.
Through my experience at highschool I have learned that I need to balance my swim, school, family, and sleep much better. My goals for highschool and after are to keep all B-‘s or above(above a 3.0 on 4.0 scale) to keep my grades/GPA up plus hopefully help me get into a good college for swim and school. My goals for college are to swim through college and get a computer or business degree for after if I cannot make it any further. Through my years of swimming I have only had three injuries that have not been major. I had two injuries that were my muscles in my legs getting too tight and almost causing more damage. My other injury was a fracture in my Iliac crest(hip/pelvis) which I was out for a few weeks to make sure it healed correct. One thing that came out good from those was that I came back ready to work and with a good mindset which made me want to work harder. It made me a better swimmer overall because it helped mentally and physically. I was a leader to my group when I was in my last years of middle school and to my middle school swim team. I learned that being together as a team is stronger than being one because your team can get your heart rate higher and hype you up. I am also someone that loves to gives people pep talks and if I have to calm someone down after a bad race or anything in general.
