After each soccer season, I look back and find that I have grown better as a player and a person. I have been playing soccer for eleven years now, and it feels like all my hard work is starting to pay off. This past year, I was invited to join Prince William’s National Premier League (NPL) team, where I play as a winger providing crosses and goal scoring opportunities for my team. In my first season we achieved second place, allowing us to go to the NPL finals in Massachusetts. Next year, we expect to come back better than ever and take first place! My highschool team isn’t quite as successful, but playing with them has taught me important lessons about teamwork and that winning isn’t always everything. Losses are where you learn the most about yourself as a player and how to improve for the next game.
I have worked very hard to get to this point but have had an amazing supporting cast in my parents and older brother and I know I wouldn’t be in this position today without them or my most influential coach Tony Rodgers who really pushed me to play better. I will continue to keep up my work-ethic in college and my team captain leadership abilities will allow me to be an asset on your team. When I’m not playing games on Sundays, I help out with my church’s childrens' classes. Academics are very important to me. I have a passion for science and would like to pursue that at a university. I am more than up to the challenge of balancing school with sports and look forward to all the lessons I will learn in college!
