My name is Kabine conde. I am a member of one of Africa’s famous tribes, the Mandingo, a tribe that contributed to the formation of great empires like Ghana, Mali, and Songhai. As a boy, I attended a French school in my home town Conakry the Capital of Guinea. My favorite school subject is science; science to me is a systematic and diverse topic. The topics I enjoy most are physics, chemistry, and biology. For me, science isn’t just a class; I see it applied in politics, economics and even the way we all live.
My favorite hobby is participating in sports because it's a way for me to get away and have fun, also in today’s world sports stars are symbols of leadership and often serve as role models. I have always used the influence that comes with being good at sports to better the community around me. Whenever I am at school and see an opportunity to create a more welcome environment, such as standing up to a bully, I take that opportunity. As a leader, I admire Nelson Mandela because he led the struggle to replace the apartheid regime of South Africa with a multi-racial democracy that most African leaders chose to acknowledge and follow. If I had one superpower, it would simply be a voice that could be heard by world powers. I would speak to change the governments in Africa to become more like that of modern South Africa; democratic. In order to have influence in the world today, it is best to be trusted by others. That is why I commit myself to my integrity and honesty. That would be the virtue that means the most to me and one that others say best describes my personality.
I stay motivated by using the phrase “I can do it.” Because every challenge can be overcome with courage. A time where I once had to overcome fear with courage was plebe system during my first few weeks at Valley Forge. Plebe system was a challenge that was mostly mental with stress of school and military life creating a 6 week long system that changed me. A few years ago, I attended a camp modeled after Army Basic Training, in which I learned more about leadership than I ever could from a book. At the end, we all gave a farewell speech and mine was about rising up to the challenge of inheriting the world as the next generation.
I learned a lot about courage from both this camp and plebe system that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. When I was in elementary school, I always dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player and I know that pursuing my dreams will change the way me and my family live, which is the most one can ever hope of accomplishing.
