I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old. I loved the game immediately and I have been playing ever since. Coaches and others would often comment that I was a natural born athlete. As I got older, I capitalized on that natural ability by hard work and practice. I wanted to be the best soccer player on my team. I have had many soccer accomplishments through the years. This year I was named 1st Team All Star and earned All-State Honors from the Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference. I was Team Captain and helped lead our team to playoffs. I personally scored all three goals in the quarterfinals, which pushed our team to semifinals.
Playing soccer has helped me grow as a person, not just an athlete. I learned how to handle disappointments, failures and successes. I have gained some leadership skills which I want to expand upon. I like helping and teaching others. Team success to me is as fulfilling as personal success.
I am inspired by a quote I read from Abraham Lincoln, which says, “The best way to predict your future is to create it”. I plan to create my future by being the best I can be in whatever I do. I will make the most of the opportunities that are available to me.
