I work and grow with my feet, I could probably make the argument that I study with them too. Through the sport I have learned to focus and set goals for myself, mentally and physically. The environment of a soccer team can vary drastically as a win can put everyone in a great mood unlike a tough loss that can lead to all types of tense moments and affect the dynamic of the team. I have developed leadership skills and an understanding of what it means to be a positive presence, a motivator. This year I am Captain of my high school varsity team and a starter on my club team. I play for the team and the team has taught me motivation, unity, dedication, perseverance and diplomacy. I currently play as an outside back, which I believe is a great position for me given my fitness, stamina, and composure as I am a very attacking minded defender. I command the sideline and my speed allows me to take risks. Outside of the classroom and off the field, I run and swim to keep in shape, and I'm a certified lifeguard as well. I've enjoyed amazing experiences and learned from great coaches and fellow teammates along the way. Whether it be my club teams, foreign teams, State/Region I ODP the exposure to different cultures through my sport has been so rewarding playing overseas in Bogota, Colombia for AC Milan Americas Copa Americana 2013, as well as participating in the Azelio Rachini Tournament 2014 in Arezzo, Italy, and friendlies in Zagreb, Croatia against Dynamo Lokomotiv. Getting together for the first time with a new team where there is a language and cultural barrier is difficult. Communication is limited, and you feel the pressure, but what's amazing is how quickly you find an understanding and are able to exchange thoughts and gestures simply through the game. I know the importance of my education and have made it work for me. At New Rochelle High School where I am currently a junior, I take a rigorous course load of honors and AP courses, including college level architecture classes which I enjoy especially. I mastered the art of doing homework and studying in the backseat of the car, traveling for many years over two hours one way to ODP practice every week, so working hard and making good use of my time is not an issue. I plan to continue playing soccer in college and am looking for a good fit. Although I am not sure of a major as of yet, I am very interested in engineering, architecture and pre-law. My focus is to find a great school where I can make great contributions academically and athletically.
