My name is Pierre Clavel.
I am a center/outside midfielder with strong skills on either foot. I am motivated to meet challenges on the field and in the classroom. This Spring I was given the opportunity to try out for the GBFC Thunder of the NPSL, and have earned a spot as a midfielder on the A team. In the fall, I helped lead my high school team to the NYS class AA (large school), semifinal game, with crucial goals and assists in regular season, conference championships, and regional championships. This Year I look forward to captaining the team as we aim for a state championship. I am 100 percent committed to playing soccer in college. I look forward to meeting the challenge of soccer and academics at your school
I have also trained in the NYSWYSA Olympic Development Program, making the Region I NY State West Tournament team for the last 4 years. In 2013 our team made it to the semi-finals, winning all our games in the first regional tournament. I have been on the Varsity soccer team since 10th grade, where we won two sectional titles (2013, 2014), placed 1st in STAC’s (Southern Tier Athletic Conference)(2014), won the regional final (2014), and achieved 3rd place in States (2014). Individually I was named 1st Team All-Conference (2014), with 9 goals and 15 assists (2014) and 3 goals and 8 assists (2013). I have played travel soccer since I was 7. My club coaches for WAZA in Ithaca, NY are LaMarr Peters and Chris Thomas (a former Jamaican National player).
I am currently a Junior at Lehman Alternative Community School in Ithaca, NY. Ever since age 5, I’ve made soccer an important part of my life. I work hard on and off the field to improve my skill and ability, so that I can compete better with every task I face. I bring high work rate and dedication to my training environment, and build communication and a team-first mentality wherever I play. My coaches will tell you that no one is more committed in training and in games.
Academically, I am interested in studying psychology, and currently plan to pursue this through graduate school. I am a confident student, intellectually curious, and a critical thinker- tools that will make me a successful student-athlete.
I coach youth soccer during the summer, as well as being a referee, and am a Teaching Assistant during the school year.
I look forward to finding a program that is the right fit for me, both as a soccer player and as a psychology major.
