Personal Statement

As a military child, I have learned to be self-disciplined,  resilient and truly understand that to be a great leader, you have to be a great follower. I pride myself on contributing to team goals.  As the son of an Army Colonel,  our family has adapted to multiple moves to several different locations worldwide. While others might view this as a challenge, I've embraced it and made the most of my opportunity to meet different people from many different cultures and backgrounds.

Soccer is a universal game enjoyed throughout the world.  I love to play the game not only for its challenges but also for the character required to be successful--it has made me not only a better player but also a better person.  I would sum up my approach to the game and life in the acronym LDRSHIP.

Loyalty to my teammates and my faith and my family and teams--I want to support all of those who depend upon me most, whether a teammate, sibling; I am not afraid to devote myself to a cause or purpose which I recognize is bigger than me.

Duty to me is not simply doing a soccer drill or homework assignment to standard but rather doing it to the best of my ability. I must better myself in order to improve the team. Both my soccer and basketball coaches recognize this quality in me and often make reference to the fact I am a very coachable person.

Respect is something I believe everyone is entitled to receive. I treat my teammates, teachers and family as they deserve to be treated. Likewise, on the pitch, I respect my opponents and the referees--it displays my love for the game.

Selflessness is putting the needs of the team before myself. Often I volunteer my time to causes which contribute to the community. Whether helping the Red Cross or volunteering for setting up the school dance, I want to do so not because I seek recognition or fame, but rather it is simply the right thing to do. On the pitch, I pride myself in running a bit faster, going the distance and being tenacious for my team.

Honor to me is simply living up to my name my parents have giving me; I understand the privilege of playing this game and representing my school with pride. I hope to contribute to your school in the same manner.

Integrity to me is doing the right thing when my parents, teachers, or coaches aren't watching me.  To do anything less than my best sells my potential and the team short. Coaches, teachers and teammates trust me to lead, contribute and perform to the best of my ability in practice and in games. I will do so because their trust in me is not misplaced.  Accordingly, I put the same rigor into my academics as I do with my athletics.

Lastly, whether physically, or morally, I believe my Personal Courage will contribute to any team or organization I represent. Whether it is sacrificing myself to stop a shot, or telling the truth which others may not see popular, I believe in standing up for what I believe.

As a sophomore in High School, I've served as a starter for two varsity seasons for the FKHS soccer team and earned district All Star Honors. I am a versatile, physical, and durable player who coaches feel comfortable utilizing in multiple positions to include wing, midfielder, and fullback. I serve the team and my Coaches so play where I can best contribute to our team. Likewise, the Javanon Coaching staff currently employs me in the same manner.  Currently, I am also playing for the FKHS Basketball team and have even started some games at the varsity level this year.  Recently,  I committed myself to a conditioning class which allows me to focus improving my strength, endurance and power through disciplined weightlifting. Lastly, I have competed in the 5K Spartan Races to challenge myself and keep myself in the best shape possible for the soccer season.

Lastly, and certainly not least, I am committed to my academics. Currently, I am carrying a 4.0 midway through my Sophomore year with several AP courses. Recently, I prepared myself to take a Practice SAT through the school and scored a 1367. I consider myself extremely mature, trustworthy, and constantly seek to better myself in my scholarly pursuits.  My goals include graduating HS with a 4.0 and to give myself the opportunity to attend and contribute to an accomplished institution.  In doing so, my academics must come first as I become the best soccer player possible in playing for my future college.

In summary, I am a skilled, intelligent and determined young man who looks forward to discussing with you how I can contribute to not only your team but also your academic institution.
