If opportunity does not knock, you build a door. I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old and my goal is to become an esteemed college soccer athlete, and I will do everything that it takes in order to reach that goal. I understand there are certain obstacles that I will need to overcome such as my family's financial issues however, I make every choice in my life as if it is something that will affect my future. This is why I do not smoke, nor drink alcoholic beverages. Although this might affect my social relations, I know that I should not have to partake in those actions to be respected.
I earn my respect other ways. One of those ways is, keeping a high GPA and being known as a reputable, well rounded, student athlete who succeeds in both his academics and in his sport. My sport is my outlet in my life for all my rough patches that I go through. I take soccer as seriously that I am at the point where if I have a bad day at school or if my family is fighting again, I go to the soccer fields to clear my mind. Soccer will always be my life, and I know that many others may say that but they may not be in the same circumstances that I am in. Soccer and my education will be my outlet to my career and I solemnly swear I believe that I will work with whatever coach that recruits me try to fit in with their team and do what I need to do in order to retain that level of respect that I have now.
I like to challenge myself in my academics and in soccer. I take several Honors Classes and an AP class at the moment and I plan on taking more next year. My GPA is relatively a high GPA but I realize I will need to maintain this in order to be respected and get noticed. In soccer, a coach may see that I fit in a better position than the position that I originally signed up for. I will and do my best in the positions that I play because I know that in the end, soccer is a team sport and " I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion"-Mia Hamm
