John McLachlan '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'9'' forward from Berwyn, IL and will graduate in the spring of 2012.  I have over 9 years of club soccer experience first with the Berwyn Blazers and, most recently, with Chicago Inter SC where I started on the U19 Premier Division team.  This past season we finished 8th in Illinois and 29th in Region 2.  This year I played on the Illinois ODP team.  In July, we beat Iowa to take the Region 2 Championship.  I've been a starting forward on my high school varsity team since my freshman year.  We've been Regional Champions for  the past two years.  This year I am team captain.

I want very much to pursue competitive soccer at the collegiate level and am open to explore opportunities at all divisions.  My ideal athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team; however, I would work very hard to earn my position.  I believe my special soccer qualities include a keen vision for the game, creativity on the field and speed of play.  I'm a second degree blackbelt Tae Kwon Do which has helped me make quick decisions and be very agile on the field.  I also circulate the ball well and am very fast.  My best 100M time is 10.8 FAT.  I run for my high school's track team;  I have been a state qualifier for the 4x1 and finished 10th in state for the 4x2 relay.

When I'm not on the soccer field, I'm sitting at my piano studying music.  I plan to major in music and Italian and would prefer to attend a university in  the Midwest region.  I carry a full college preparatory courseload including Spanish honors.  I will graduate with 3 extra credits because I have been enrolled in a second foreign language for the past 3 years.
