James Van Artsdalen '11 Recruiting Profile

I have had a dream since I was a little boy and that was to play soccer at a high level for as long as I could. I have worked extremely hard to get to this point. I have been a three year starter at Deerfield High School. As a goalkeeper, I am surrounded by others who are taller then my 5 feet and 10 inch build and bigger then my 160 pounds. But that does not mean that I cannot play like them. I play bigger than what I am and I believe my games are living proof of this. I dominate my box and I read the offense quickly. By no means did I develop these qualities by not practicing. I work every day to be the best that I can be. Honestly, I am the first one on the field and the last one to leave. Just as soccer is a large part of my life, school is just as important. I am looking for a smaller school. A school that has a good academics, and that is looking for a player who will devote his heart to the game. I am open to anything but these are just my preferences. It is a big world and if something else emerges, I would be willing to take a chance and step away from what I want. I am not in the best financial situation right now and my family and I will be applying for aid. Finally, I am a competitor and I believe that I can bring something important to any team that I play for. I would like to play at the highest level of competition that my talent allows. I would like to make an impact on a team and bring a sense of security when anyone look towards the net.
