I am a 5'10",170 pound forward from Hawaii and will graduate from the class of 2013. I have a special combination of explosiveness, speed, quickness and relentlessness. I’ve been playing soccer since the age of 3 and since my freshman year, I’ve accumulated a number of accomplishments that I find most important in my soccer career thus far. Some of these include: 2 time All-state Honorable Mention, 2 time All-Conference 2nd Team, and I have been a Conference Lead Scorer for the past three years. During the summers, I play for Makoa Men’s Soccer Team in Hawaii’s Men’s Ranger League. I also currently play for the Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club so that I may continue to improve and develop my soccer skills.
I firmly believe that I have much to offer any team, but more importantly, any school and athletic program that is willing to give me the opportunity. I am a young man of integrity and I uphold my morals and values just as I uphold my love for the sport. I am committed to demonstrating leadership qualities at all times. This can be seen in my experience as one of the team leaders for my high school the last three years. This upcoming season (2012-2013), I will also be taking on the role of team captain. I am definitely one to lead by example, in that; you will always find me in the front of the pack for runs and workouts. In addition, I practice and carry out good sportsmanship. Over the years of playing soccer, I’ve learned that I am always a winner when I can learn to cope with victory as well as defeat. I appreciate the benefits of discipline through training, team work, and commitment and I’ve learned to hone the values necessary for the development of respect for myself and others, including: teammate, coaches, referees, opponents, and fans. Furthermore, I think one of the greatest qualities of a leader that I have, is that of goal setting. I always set goals for myself and I constantly work to reach them so that I may make myself better as a student, an athlete, and as a person. Being a leader encompasses so many different qualities and attributes. What sets me apart from most others is my impeccable work ethic. I am probably one of the hardest workers you will ever meet and that’s because I strive to be the best that I can be in all that I do and say. I run wherever I go (on and off the field, to and from the water) and I don’t give up on plays, runs, or workouts. I’ve instilled in myself the value of hard work because it taught me that practice really makes perfect. So I practice like how I play and I always make sure I’m moving during practices (even when I’m not in the drill, I’m moving my feet in place). I was born with the desire to excel so I am always looking to make myself better no matter what it takes. It is my dream to play soccer in college and continue my education. Someday, my goal is to make it professionally and travel the world, playing the sport I love.
Ideally, it really doesn’t matter to me where the school is located so long as I get to play the sport I love and still be able to get a great education, studying the major I am pursuing. If I were to make some sort of preference as to where I’d like to go, I would say Oregon or somewhere along the west coast. Otherwise, I am most definitely open to different types of schools. Again, the main factors for me are the opportunity to play collegiate soccer and to continue my education. If I can find a school that will allow both of these things to occur, then I am completely open to it. My desired major is Communications.
Realistically, my goal is to play as a freshman at the highest competition level in collegiate soccer. Other than that, my only other goal would be to build strong relationships with others throughout my soccer career so that I may learn more from them and so that I may be able to connect with them in such a way that I make lasting friendships.
