I learned and grew the most when our team lost in the finals of nationals. It showed me that I needed to work that much harder to get to where I wanted to be. Me working harder provided me the chance to go train in Germany, exposing me to new skills. Having to go back home only made me work harder as a defensive midfielder to be able to get a chance to go back again.
I got into soccer through my nanny who played with me when I was old enough to put a ball at my feet. Every day we would kick the ball and run around, I started early and never stopped. Soccer has always brought out the best of me, it allows me to focus my competitiveness. Playing soccer every day plus school has been a challenge, I must stay focused on what needs to get done, set out a plan and stay on task. Playing soccer and doing two running sports, cross country and track, pushes me to never give up. I’ve learned to never give up, keep going when it gets tough, have a good work-ethic, and lastly how to be a member of a team and earn a spot in a squad. Being a freshman earning a spot to run varsity cross country while also being a captain for soccer, I know how to be a leader as well as a good team member. I have learned how to lead by example, take criticism and be a good listener. My leadership skills, intense work-ethic, and drive to be the best is what I believe will make me stand out in your program.
