Jonty Nobbs has committed to Carnegie Mellon University, and will join Coach Brandon Bowman's team in 2018. CMU competes in the University Athletic Association League with teams like U of Chicago, Brandeis, Wash U and Emory. Jonty has been admitted to the prestigious Tepper School of Business and intends to double major in Business and Computer Science.
Jonty will graduate from Harvard-Westlake School, based in Los Angeles, CA in June 2018. His current cumulative GPA is about 4.2 and his ACT score is 33.
Outside the classroom, soccer comes first, always has. He started for the Varsity as a Freshman, playing several positions from D-mid to attacking left wingback. As a sophomore, he played D-mid or higher up, as needed. As a junior and a senior, he became ineligible for High School soccer, having taken up a position in the USSF Development Academy system for part of the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
The F. C. Golden State Academy Team is in the Western Conference of the USSF "DA", along with teams such as Real Salt Lake, the Seattle Sounders, the Vancouver Whitecaps, LA Galaxy, and the Portland Timbers.
Jonty has played Club soccer for about 7 years. He was Co-Captain at U 16, U 17 and U 18 for FC Golden State, and started at D-Mid or Centre Defender in a 4-3-3. He played in the 2015 Dallas Cup, reaching the semi finals from 32 Teams, where they lost to the eventual winners from the Eintracht Frankfurt Soccer Academy, and in the 2017 Dallas Cup. His Golden State teams have won 4 Surf Cups in that time, the Premier League of the CSL three times, they were semi finalists in the National Cup in Indiana, and have won numerous other Tournaments achieving a regular ranking as one of the top national Club Teams in youth soccer.
As I prepare for College soccer and balance my soccer commitment with 5 "AP" classes, I am currently playing with FC Golden State's top U 19 team led by FCGS Owner Bob Freidland. We intend to have one more run at the National and Dallas Cups in 2018. The team has a strong latin flare with some 12 Brazilians on its roster. We cross train at every practice with the FCGS' PDL U 23 team called the Golden State FORCE.
In my own time, I play guitar and piano and ski. We travel when we can to South Africa to visit my Grand Parents, Uncles and Godparents. I am a dual USA/South African citizen.
Go Tartans.
