Passion is defined as an intense desire or enthusiasm for something, soccer is my something!
Since I can remember, I’ve always had a soccer ball around me or at my own feet. This was mainly because my older brother was playing competitive soccer but it didn’t take long for this to become a personal choice.
I believe I have many assets that separate me from other players and makes me a good candidate for any team including versatility, coachability, and physicality:
Versatility- Since I was ten years old, I have played dual positions which I believe gives me an edge over other players. As a forward, I have the knowledge and personal experience to judge the goalie’s movements and as a goalie I can judge what a forward’s next move will be. In addition, I become a certified referee in 2016, only adding to my versatility and deeper understanding of this sport.
Coachability- For the past five years, I have been coached by my father which I think speaks for itself. Naturally, this structure has forced the coach to be harder on me but I have maintained the ability to still learn through every situation. Recently, I have been working under three teams with three different coaches who all possess different coaching styles and I have been able to adapt and grow my skill set.
Physicality- Through stamina, strength and endurance, I can perform at a high physical level. I don’t think I realized this was an asset that I possessed until recently. When I’m not playing with my team, I play with another competitive team within our club and I have been doing additional conditioning for my high school soccer tryouts.
I admit I haven’t always put forth the same effort academically as I have when playing soccer but this is no longer an issue. When I realized that I couldn’t play collegiate soccer, if I didn’t have the grades, my mindset changed. Since starting my Freshman year, I have maintained a 3.29 GPA.
I want to be a part of a team that will continue to push, challenge and develop my skill set that will help me achieve my goal of playing professional soccer.
