Aidan Chadam '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Aidan Chadam, I am a 2017 Graduate at The Athenian School in Danville, California which is an intensive college preparatory school. I have attended Athenian for 3 years; before that I attended Palo Alto High School.  Before Palo Alto, I had the opportunity to live in Singapore for 5 years.  

I am a 6’2”, 165 lb, two-footed CB.  I have also played as a box-to-box center midfielder; earlier in my career I played Left Back.  I have started every Varsity and Club game for three seasons, and am captain of both my high school and club team.  I took 90% of our set pieces and free kicks, and had 21 goals and 27 assists over the last two seasons. I have been told that I exhibit three main qualities: bravery, leadership, and commitment. I find that these three qualities have been essential for my success. I also have also been lucky to start for Athenian's Varsity Basketball team and am the starting catcher on our Varsity Baseball team (which won the League last year, the first time in 50 years).

My passion is soccer and growing up in a soccer family (my dad played in Europe and at the University of Chicago), I have been lucky to train with some inspiring clubs, coaches, and players. In particular, I trained with Coach Fandi Ahmad in Singapore, where I played in his Academy as the only expatriate on a strong Singaporean team (6 players from my team have gone on to play for the national team).  I also played for Coach Nathaniel Naplah, with whom I won a U11 silver medal for International Soccer Academy in the Plate Division at the Gothia Cup. At this moment, I am learning from Coach Matt Zahner, who has helped me grow as a player and a person, and Don Busboom, for my team Mustangs 99B Red. All of these coaches have inspired me through their fun and sympathetic attitude, sense of humor, love of the game, and their creative approach to motivating players.
