My name is Ty Callen, and I’m currently a freshman at Port Washington High School located in Port Washington, WI and will graduate in the year 2021. I’m currently 5’2” and 115 lbs. My favorite school subjects are Engineering and Design/Tech Ed and Social Studies. I currently have a 3.3 GPA and on the honor roll, but continue to strive to do better. I also volunteer my time outside of school. A few things include assisting the Salvation Army to raise money, assisting in teaching young kids tennis for a Recreation program called “Little Guys Tennis” and setting up for a Jamboree for the club, 4H.
I’ve tried playing a variety of youth sports, but lacrosse became my sport of choice. I’ve been playing since 5th grade and each year I work harder to improve as an individual player as well a team player. My current position is Attack, but I have also played Mid-Fielder. Some may look at my height as a disadvantage, but using my quickness, knowledge of where I need to be on the field and my stick handling skills really makes my height a non-issue. I’ve had the experience of playing for the Golden Eagles Travel Team in 2015. I’ve also attended Badger State Lacrosse camp in 2016 and played in the League of Hero’s tournament at MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) in 2017. I will be playing for the Ozaukee County High School club team (GPO) this year, 2018. I am also looking forward to attending some High School Level Prospect and Showcase Camps in the upcoming years.
My future goals are to attend a college where I can purse a degree in Mechanical Engineering while playing competitive lacrosse.
I will be updating my personal statement as my high school career continues and I look forward to the continued challenges that both school and lacrosse bring me as my high school journey progresses.
