Assist: verb; help (someone), typically by doing a share of the work.
Over the last year, based on the High School teams I have played for, my role has been different in each situation- doing the work the coach asks of me. I believe Lacrosse is the greatest team sport and I love playing today and hope to continue to play at a collegiate level.
As my Freshman year has come to an end, I have made some big strides as a Lacrosse player. As a starting Attackman on the Pearland Railcat JV team, I won the team MVP Award and was the leading scorer. My playing time on Varsity included time on the Midfield line and Attack line. This summer, on our 18U Varsity team, I have been on the starting Attack line and played significant shifts at Midfield (including man-up and man-down sets). We have qualified for the IMG National Tournament by winning the Texas Draw Victory Event. My personal Lacrosse highlight this summer was being placed on the T-99 2020 All-star team.
Off the field, my first year in high school was a success. Taking all Pre-AP classes and discovering an interest in mathematics and science- I am going to continue to focus on my academics and hope to study engineering in college. I have also taken the opportunity to volunteer with TOPS Soccer (dis-abled youth soccer program) and coach lacrosse with our local club where I was a coach of the youth summer camp program. I will also be an assistant coach with one of our youth teams this coming year.
