My name is Gabriel Ludwig. I fell in love with lacrosse seven years ago while playing on a junior club team. Now I am a three year starter on a varsity lacrosse team and led the team in points my junior year. Entering my senior year I hope to accomplish my dream of playing lacrosse at the next level. I have developed my skills through a wide variety of playing opportunities, such as indoor box lacrosse, summer club teams, and adult summer leagues. My strengths as a player include, leadership, field awareness/vision, quick feet, good stick skills, and a desire to succeed. During my final year of high school lacrosse I am working on improving my off hand shot on the run as well other aspects of my game.
My high school academic record is strong with a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a 1580 cumulative SAT score. During my junior year of high school, I took a class at a local University as well as Honors English, and Calculus AP during my senior year. Along with playing lacrosse in high school, I wrestled my freshmen and sophomore year but stopped to pursue lacrosse exclusively. My extracurricular activities include involvement in; Key club, Outdoors club, peer tutoring, 5th grade outdoor education counselor for 2 years, and peer leadership camp counselor. My involvement in key club has allowed me to; volunteer at a food pantry every month, raise money for leukemia during football games, help set up our local street fair, and Christmas caroling at our local nursing home. During Outdoors club we went rock climbing, white water rafting, hiking, and high ropes obstacle courses.
Over the last several years I have worked part time as a pool attendant/waiter, bus boy, host, and fry cook. These experiences have taught me the importance of hard work and loyalty which will guide me into my college and professional career. In addition to my work history I have volunteered at Mostly Mutts animal shelter, Martha's Table soup kitchen, and Haven Ministries shelter. I intend to further my involvement in charitable activities during my college career and beyond.
My plan has always been to attend college after high school. As I look forward to my college career, I would like to major in a field of Mathematics such as Engineering or Actuarial Science. My ideal school will offer a field of study in Engineering or Actuarial Science as well as a faculty that promotes my success as a student and as a person. My ideal school will likely be a smaller University with a small student to professor ratio, a close-knit and involved student body, and an opportunity to develop as a student-athlete. The education I have received through high school has prepared me for the academic challenges of college and I feel confident that I will succeed.
My aspiration following college is to enter the workforce with a company that values the education I have received and who will allow me to grow and succeed professionally. I can see myself always involved in lacrosse either through playing recreationally or through coaching. I am excited for what lies ahead.
