Matthew Worrall '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matthew Worrall and I just finished my Junior year at Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  I have been playing lacrosse for over 7 years for both club and school teams.  I love the game of lacrosse and enjoy every time I get to play even if I am throwing and catching in my backyard.  I am 5’ 11”, 165 lbs and still growing. 

This Spring my High School team had our best season ever in the very competitive Chesmont League, finishing with a 11-7 record.  I started at attack where I finished with 38 goals and 26 assists for the season.  With a total of 64 points, I contributed to 35% of my team’s offense this season.  For my efforts I was voted Honorable Mention in the league.

My biggest asset is always doing the “right thing” for the team.  Winning means more to me than individual accomplishments.  I strongly believe in the extra pass.  I am a very unselfish player on the field, maybe too unselfish at times, but I will not take on kids one-on-one when passing is the better play. Of course if I know I can beat the defender I will with my dodging and weaving skills.  I am also a great stick handler and a very creative shot maker.  I am often the player with the ball at the end of the game.

This summer, I am playing for The Black Bear club team out of Downingtown, PA.  We have played in 2 tournaments already this year with very good results, making the finals in both the Upper Atlantic Tournament at USTC and the Lehigh Laxfest at Lehigh University.  In the Upper Atlantic tournament I had 7 goals and 4 assists in 4 games and at the Laxfest I had 9 goals and 8 assists in 5 games.

This June I also attended Top 205 Rising Seniors in Towson, MD where I played attack (Jersey #5) for Coach Klank’s team (Team #16).
