An adversity in life can build a fire in you. This sentence has great meaning in my life. I work hard both on and off the field, in both my game and academics. I play most of the year, and train during the off- season. I am always trying to improve my game. My goal is to attend a college that fits me both academically and athletically, and to play lacrosse at the collegiate level.
I may not be that big, but I have learned how to make a big presence on the field. I can back a defender in, go hard for ground balls, and hit when necessary. I always look for that extra pass to make a clean shot. I may not score many goals, but I look to make the plays happen. I am not selfish; an assist is as good as a goal. I realize how important communication is; therefore, I am loud on the field. Communication is one of the keys to preventing a goal. I am skilled in both man and zone defense. I will recognize the formations that other teams create, and help my teammates adjust. I believe I have a great understanding of the game. I constantly watch collegiate and pro games. I analyze and observe their techniques then try to apply what they do to my own game.
What defines me as a person is my ability to be a leader. I enjoy pumping up my team before games. I can be found encouraging my teammates during our halftime break, and helping to make adjustments so our team can reach the “win.” As a student athlete I feel it is important to be a leader to our youth. I enjoy working with our younger local club team. I help at their practices and hope to pass my love of lacrosse onto the youth players.
