John Gillis '17 Recruiting Profile

I have just begun my college search, so at this time I'd like to explore all avenues and keep my options open. I'd like to study math and explore different careers in that field through my schooling and possibly by becoming an intern.  I'm a quick learner and adapt easily to change.  My coaches tell me I'm a leader, not by assertiveness but by example.  I've been told by both football and lacrosse coaches that I'm one of the most coachable players they've ever had. I'm told I have a natural ability when it comes to sports.  I love all sports, especially lacrosse.  I work out daily.  If I'm not practicing lacrosse or at the gym, I'm playing basketball, football or swimming.  I've been on one team or another since I was 3 1/2 years old!  I've been in honors classes since 8th grade and do well in school but I could definitely do better.  One of my personal goals this year is to bring my grades up.  One of my lacrosse goals is to improve my speed and foot work.  I'm willing to put in the effort as I know it will make a difference.  I'm pro-active and like to make good choices sooner rather than later.  I'm a team player on the field, in the classroom and at home.  I have a family that encourages me and supports most of my endeavors.  I know I will be the same way at college and in my life as an adult.  I welcome any and all opportunities to meet with coaches and their staff.  I'd like to visit as many campuses as possible.  I'm very excited to enter this next phase of my life.
