Ryan Godfrey '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ryan Godfrey. I am a 2003 hockey player from Setauket, New York. I am currently signed to play with the Long Island Royals AAA '03 team in the 2017-18 winter season. I am playing for an Elite AAA National Tournament team this spring and summer, and recently finished my second year playing for the Freshman hockey team for Ward Melville High School. I also played travel hockey at the AA Bantam Major level for the PAL Blue Knights of Suffolk County. My team and personal statistics can be seen in the stats section of my profile.

I have worked extremely hard and will continue to do so to reach my ultimate goal of playing hockey competitively at the collegiate level at a college or university that also matches my academic needs. I am undecided as to my course of study at this time, however, I am certain I want to continue to play hockey at the highest level I can achieve and choose a career path that will involve sports, in particular hockey. I am considering coaching, training and/or sports casting as a few options.

Academically, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society this past April.  The evaluation process looks at scholarship, leadership, service and character. I have maintained a 90, or higher, grade point average for two years. I attempt to lead by example, use good sportsmanship and have been chosen as Captain of my school team, and Assistant Captain of my travel team, this past season. I also play travel and school lacrosse,  as well as school volleyball, and I am a member of student council at my middle school. I work hard to give back to my community as I feel very grateful for the opportunities that I have been given in my life. I have volunteered over 40 hours this year to raise money for breast cancer awareness, work at our local soup kitchen, and help out at my church for social events. Finally, I believe I am of strong character.  I have a strong work ethic, try to lead by example in school, on the ice and in the community. 

I hope to join a competitive Division I , II or III program where I will continue to grow as a player, teammate and person. I will always work  hard, play by the rules, show respect, and put my team first and foremost above my individual play. I am a true team player and will continue to work on all aspects of my play to raise the level of my game.
