I am currently a sophomore at Hammonton High School. As a second-year varsity player for St. Joe’s, my hard work and perseverance on and off the ice earned me Assistant Captain. Beginning at the age of six, my love for playing hockey has grown stronger. As a student who struggled in school with dyslexia, hockey has helped me to overcome some of the challenges resulting from my learning disability. My passion for hockey is a key motivator to continue striving to exceed my educational goals. When all else fails I always know I can grab my skates and hit the ice. Last year when given the opportunity to give back to kids with disabilities, I volunteered to teach autistic children how to play hockey and to use those hockey skills to overcome their struggles. Being a student coach for the Flyers Youth Special Hockey Program is not only extremely rewarding but also a lot of fun. It is my dream to continue to play hockey while earning my degree in Sociology in preparation to become a School Counselor.
