My name is Tyler Chamberlain, I am a Minnesota born hockey player and an exceptional student in a highly rated school system. My goal as a hockey player is to play at the highest level possible. To achieve this goal I am willing (and have begun) to dedicate myself fully.
I’ve grown up surrounded by hockey, and I love everything about it. I fondly remember the road trips when I was younger with my older brother’s teams and the knee hockey tournaments in the basement. Now I spend countless hours in our backyard rink with friends playing pickup games, or by myself with my headphones practicing my skating and stick-handling skills using a homemade PEP. I have always been a great stick handler, but in the past few years I have really improved my skating and added a lot of speed. My first few steps are said to be explosive and I love to split the D or make a move to go around them. I have a good scoring touch and like to finish, but my favorite part of the game is either setting up teammates or finishing pretty passes from teammates.
I am currently going into the 9th grade, and am enrolled at Irondale High School for the 2017/18 school year. In 6th through 8th grade I have maintained a 3.8-3.9 GPA. I have many All Academic awards from tournaments I’ve been in, including the Minnesota SELECTS tournament in 2016 and 2017. This spring (2017), I received the Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a cumulative GAP of 3.66 or higher throughout the school year. I personally think these grades are caused by a drive for excellence and my ability to build strong relationships with my teachers.
I have many athletic accomplishments, but my favorites are being invited to the Minnesota SELECTS Tournament for the past two years, and being put in the list of 2016 top 50 PeeWee hockey players in the state. I have grown up playing other sports, including soccer, tennis and lacrosse...but hockey is my clear favorite. In youth soccer, my team was in three consecutive state tournaments at the highest level playing a year older than I am, we won state two out of those three years.
All of the accomplishments in my life are a direct cause of hard work and training. I enjoy running and run a mile everyday averaging around a 5 minute time, I eat right (part of that is allergies to certain bad ingredients, I must admit) and also dedicate 1-2 hours a day to stretching and working out to get my body in the best shape possible. I am motivated, and highly driven to succeed. I invite you to come watch me play anytime to see it for yourself. Thank you for your interest in me and my profile.
