Hockey has always been a passion of mine always being eager to improve while having fun. The sport has been my life and has brought me places I would have never otherwise been. Although an enormous amount of time in my life is devoted to the game, I don't define myself as a hockey player, but as a student athlete. While the game is paramount in my life, achieving the best grades possible and working hard in the classroom is a priority, still managing my time with other hobbies I take part in. For example, I am a relatively strong varsity cross country runner, and golf player when I am not on the ice or playing the violin. Hockey and other extracurricular activities have both taught me to earn success, and to work hard in order to put me in a position to succeed, having nothing come without sacrifice.
Throughout my hockey career, I haven't always been on the winning side of the scoreboard, which through reflection has made myself a better player and has brought my level of play to where it is now. I have learned that losing can bring out the truth in people, whether that is letting up, or preserving despite obstacles. I make it a goal each year to lead by example and show the other guys that pushing limits and those late nights out on the ice or in the gym will come back and repay us in the future, which has always been the drive for the work I do.
