My name is Tristen Bear, I just turned 14 this past August and am enrolled in grade nine at the Murdock McKay Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am 5’10”, 142lbs and play right wing for the AA Transcona Railcats and in Tournaments I play for AAA Manitoba Chiefs in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am considered an easy-going person and get along well with everyone I meet. My team mates consider me one of the leaders on our team and I take that seriously and do my best to lead by example.
I have been playing hockey since I was five years old and have learned that for me to be successful in hockey, I need to continue working on my hockey skills and overall game. Since the age of nine years old, I have spent most of my off-hockey seasons and summer months enrolled in training camps and developmental programs as I want to become a better player. I am currently working with a personal trainer who is helping me to increase my strength, endurance and work on parts of my game and skills that I need to improve.
What makes me different from others is that I enjoy and am passionate about playing hockey. I am dedicated and always trying to find ways to improve my skills either by working out at home and attending developmental and hockey skills camps. Athletically, I consider myself physically strong and make regular visits to our family physician who has told me that based on my growth, I will be approximately 6”3 by the time I reach my senior year.
As for education, I plan on taking university courses through high school and any other course that deals with Business as I not only want to be successful in hockey but in business as well and taking these courses in high school will help me prepare for university. My father is an inspiration to me as he has attained his Masters Degree in Business and runs a successful business in Winnipeg, so my future goals are to continue playing hockey to the highest level possible and to pursue my education so that I can obtain a degree in business and one day own and run a business of my own.
