My name is Quinlan Lonergan and I play ice hockey. I am 17, currently 6'1'' and weigh 155 pounds. Though I might not weigh much I pack a punch, using my height, speed, and skill to my advantage to beat the other team by any means possible. I have proven this time and time again through out my hockey career. I have been playing competitive hockey since I was 12, when I was captain of my Peewee team leading the team to playoffs. My freshman year of highschool I had the privilege to live abroad for a year and play hockey in Singapore, during which we went to China for a tournament and being true hockey players, played hockey on the Great Wall of China. In my sophmore year of highschool my Midget 16A team won the San Jose Winter Classic as well as making it to both the NORCAL and State championships. This year I'm in my junior year of highschool, on the San Jose Junior Sharks 16AA team and we've already won the San Jose Winter Classic in the 18A division. Playing hockey is a part of life for me. The next step in life is college, and with it college hockey.
My hockey experiences have molded the way I play hockey into an agressive style of play. I'm constantly attacking the opposition, whether I'm defending on a 3-5, backchecking a fast break, or forechecking a dump in. I take after players such as Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm, and Patrick Kane, who's agressiveness and persitance is unmatched in the league. I hope to be at the forefront of this emerging new style of play and will be a good force on the ice for any college team.
I am and will be the hardest worker on any hockey team. My dedication to getting better never ceases and I am constantly looking for ways to improve my game. I am a natural leader, whether I have a letter on my jersey or not. I bring a calm and collected mind to the rink every day, ready to learn and play the game.
My ideal college is one with a hockey program. It has been my dream to play college hockey since i started playing and my passion for the game still burns red hot in my chest. I have not yet declared a major, though I want to pursue a career in law with an undergrad in business or political science. I am looking for a college with interesting people, good academics, and a hockey program I can be incorporated into. I'm ready to enter the world with a hockey stick in my hand and ice skates on my feet.
