Personal Statement

The passion and respect I have for the game mirrors my dedication in the classroom.   I was a multi-sport athlete and relinquished the opportunity to play soccer, football and baseball to dedicate and focus myself on the sport I love most - hockey!  I am relatively young in hockey years and feel I have great upside potential and drive to peak further.  Hockey is a team game and I am always looking for ways improve myself as a player.  During my athletic career, I have always been in a leadership position and captained various sports teams growing up while playing key positions (pitcher, catcher, running back, kicker, etc.) that require nerves of steel.  I have been very fortunate to battle at the highest levels and win championships, so I thrive when faced with fierce competition and love to lead my team to rise to the occasion to be the best.  It is important to leave it all on the ice every shift so there are no regrets.

As a shutdown defenseman, I play a very physical brand of hockey and am often on the ice on the PK and during critical game situations.  I possess the ability to make a clean breakout pass and can move the puck up ice when the situation or circumstance is right to do so.   I have played some forward on the PP as well.  I grind in the corners and do the dirty work necessary to create chances for my teammates to bury the puck and am not averse to standing in front of the net to create havoc for the opposition.

In the locker room, I have great sense of humor to loosen guys up, and transition that to intensity on the ice. My coaches will tell you that I am respectful of their techniques and that I lead by example.   I always support my teammates on and off the ice. I have been expected to outwork those around me and earned every opportunity I have been given because I refuse to give up or accept less than 100% of myself and my teammates.

My passion and enthusiasm for the sport of hockey burns deep inside me of me.  I am looking to join a college program that will take advantage of my work ethic and character on and off the ice, and a college institution that will appreciate and nurture my intellectual drive to succeed so I can be an ambassador for my school inside and outside of the classroom that will translate to a successful business career and lifelong proud alumni!

  • Received a tender offer to play Left Defense for Bobcats AAA U18. Coach would not afford me the opportunity to play travel and high school and as team captain, I did not want to abandon my high school teammates so I gave up the opportunity to play for the only U18AAA team in AZ out of a moral obligation and commitment made to my High School. Team won State U18 championship beating Mission Hockey in the Finals best of three series. I scored the game winner to clinch the series!

  • AHSHA Premier Team was 4-0. Lost in finals 2-1 to California Wave who we beat 4-2 during preliminary round. Team was undermanned at Forward so I played Left Wing and scored 2 Goals with 3 assists in 5 games. Thanks to coaches Tait and Harcus for working us hard and not accepting anything less than 110%.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Division 1 Arizona High School State Playoffs
  • 1/31/15 to 2/07/15
  • Semi-Finals 1/31; Championship Game 2/7. Unfortunately, we lost in OT of our semi-final game as puck went in off our own Defenseman. Was devastated that we did not have the opportunity to defend our State title, but we win and lose as a team! As Captain, I was proud of the boys for working hard and thanked my teammates for their support. Sad day for Pinnacle Hockey, but learned some valuable lessons about life and hard work it takes to be on top! I will be a better player because of the adversity of our loss - I am committed to win as it is a much better feeling! Thanks to Coach Wasser for leading us, sorry to let you down coach!
  • Camp/Event
  • Ice Dogs Thanksgiving Tournament
  • 11/27/14 to 11/30/14
  • Tough tournament. Defense had to carry the burden of an aggressive forecheck all weekend, but that what teammates do for each other! Happy to defend my brothers on the ice...not a great weekend with wins and losses, but we "win" in terms of supporting each other! Way to go boys!
  • Camp/Event
  • Arizona State High School All-Star Game - Varsity Division 1
  • 11/22/14 to 11/22/14
  • Great fun! Thanks to coach Kenny for moving me to forward and allowing me to be in "beast mode". Glad to deliver two goals and two assists and a shootout goal! Looking forward to finishing strong and hoping to repeat at State Champs! Flagstaff, here we come!
