I began playing golf at a very early age spending most of my free time in the golf course. From that moment I began learning important life lessons. The first and foremost is to persevere and be relentless in the face of doubt or negativity. Golf is unique in that a great amount of focus is required of the player; one must find the balance between mental fortitude and physical conditioning to achieve the best possible game. At first I was quite taken aback, a sport few consider to be physically taxing was ironically the most challenging of all for me. I am only five feet four inches tall; a disadvantage for some but rather than giving up I developed a strong short game and work out constantly to improve my strength. Discipline and perseverance has been the foundation of my success. Today I can see the fruits of my efforts; I drive the ball up to 240 yards. The influence golf had on my discipline and patience translated to my academic side as well. Over the past couple of years I have been able to maintain a very competitive grade point average within my class rank. I also managed to enhance my time management skills, due to the time demands of both my class-work and my golf. I am a confident individual ready to embrace my next life challenge. I feel prepared and ready for this new life phase. Golf and academics have taught me invaluable life lessons; discipline, positive attitude, and perseverance are key to success.
