Growing up in a household where baseball was king I never pictured myself playing HS golf. My dad owned a baseball academy in Pearland, Texas and pushed me in baseball from 3 years old until 7th grade. We played all over the country and faced the toughest competition we could find. After the 7th grade spring season I realized I wanted to try something new and I was always intrigued by golf. I approached my dad and told him I was ready to try a new venture. He agreed only after he realized baseball was his passion and I hadn’t found mine yet. We went that week and bought some clubs and my parents signed me up for a membership at Golfcrest Country Club. I signed up for lessons the next weekend with Coach Sammy Hanson and signed up for a tournament the following week. I believe if you’re going at something then go full force. I practiced every day that summer from the time they went to work until they got home (about 8-9 hours a day). You will be hard pressed to find someone with my work ethic. My first tournament I scored over a hundred but by the end of the summer I was breaking into the 80’s. I love this game more than I have ever loved anything besides my family. I made varsity my freshman year at a high school that is sending 3 players to college for golf this year. I won my 2nd high school tournament with a score of 77 and haven’t looked back. I’m going into this summer with 6-8 two day tourneys in front of me as well as 2 college camps. I am setting my goals daily since this sport is new to me but starting as a freshman in college is a definite. I’m looking to major in business operations or entrepreneurial operations.
