Personal Statement

My name is Greg Scott and I would like to introduce myself to you and your golf program. I have been a four sport athlete for the past two years at Greenwich Central School, located in upstate New York. After this years basketball and baseball seasons, I will have earned a total of 14 varsity letters, 5 in golf, 3 in basketball, 4 in baseball, and 2 in football. The last 2 seasons I have played golf and football at the same time. I have played team sports with my friends my whole life and with their encouragement I decided to play both golf and football, an understandably unpopular decision with both coaches. Unfortunately, with the rigors of a football season that started in late July, starting on both offense (reciever) and defense (middle linebacker), and time constaints, my golf game suffered. I did fairly well in league play going 12-2-1 the last 2 years in match play and posting a 1st and 2nd in the Wasaren League Invitational. Whenever I could get away from football practice, I would play golf ( very hard to play on weekends after a Fri night football game), but did not reach my ultimate goal of making the NYS High School Tournament. Our teams have been very successful in all sports with several state final four appearences. I have been told I could play all 4 sports at the college level, but my true love has always been golf. Unlike other kids that only play golf in the summer, my summers consisted of travelling nationwide with my travel baseball team where the season usually ended in mid August. When I was able to squeeze a few golf tournaments in during the summer I played as well as the kids that only played golf. I know that if I focused on only golf, I can bring my golf game to another level. At the same time I would like to earn a quality education, which is most important to me. I have never had any formal training in golf, so I am looking forward to that as well. I am a very competetive person and find that really helps me on the golf course. I would be available for a visit to show you my athletcism and potential as an athlete and a student. I would like to represent your school. Sincerely, Greg Scott

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
