I grew up playing club hockey and baseball while taking golf lessons and camps every summer. I started having a desire to compete with golf at 13 years old. After one season of golf tournaments I decided I wanted to work very hard to fulfill the dream of college golf. I started with taking 3 years of private lessons with Connie DeMattia PGA instructor. This last year I spent time with Kyle Slechta at The Players Service Academy doing course management training and player development. This fall I was invited to be a part of the TPS Academy's top elite team. Here I will work with John Perna, performance coach and Kyle Slechta. Their specialty is to develop and prepare top junior golfers to play at the collegiate level. I think this will be the year I see the most development. I will be looking to compete in higher level tournaments with the AJGA and throughout the country this coming summer.
I am looking to play at the highest collegiate level I can while still making the "best fit" the priority. I want to play where I can be a contributor and can be a part of the team's success.
Sophomore year - 3.57 GPA . My Junior and Senior year I will be taking honors and/or AP classes to help with preparing myself for college level academics.
As a freshman last year, I played varsity for my high school with a team of seniors. That was the year I felt like my years of hockey and baseball gave me that stepping stone I needed to play and compete with students who were much older than me. I felt my discipline and focus from my athletic background really gave me the confidence I needed this year. I really enjoyed being a part of a team again. These guys really were counting on me and I looked forward to the challenge and did not want to disappoint them. I received the Rookie of the Year award this season and was recognized as an up and coming competitor for our area and was the only freshman named to the All Area-2nd team by the Northwest Herald.
As a sophomore on my high school team this year, I played in the #1 position for the varsity team this season. Our coach was depending on me each tournament and every match to compete against some of the top kids in the state, who are seniors. I looked forward to playing them each week and did very well beating them at times. I received the MVP award this year. This season I really was able to help lead the team and was named as "one of five to watch" this season by the the Northwest Herald.
I am very competitive and have enjoyed playing for my school. The team aspect is sometimes a welcoming change after a challenging summer of individual competitions. I strongly believe my commitment and passion for the game along with my training, academics, character and previous athletic background will continue to help me compete and develop into the kind of collegiate player I want to be some day. Looking forward to that level in the next few years.
