Hello!
My name is Nathaniel Idica and I am a prospect from the class of 2016. I have been competing in varsity high school golf for three years and I plan to complete all of my four years of high school in the varsity golf team. Besides high school golf, I have had much experience through club golf through associations such as:
HSJGA (Hawaii State Junior Golf Association) and MJGA (Maui Junior Golf Association). I have been active in the Maui Junior Golf Association for 11 years and 10 years for Hawaii State Junior Golf Association. Through HSJGA, I have been able to play in tournaments such as the Junior World Championships as well as US Kids Golf Championships and Pepsi Titans.
I have always thought that education was very important and my parents always pushed me to strive in school. I have prepared myself academically by taking rigorous courses throughout my high school career. I am currently enrolled in AP English Language & Composition as well as AP Biology. With those two AP classes, I am taking honors hawaiian history, honors trigonometry and precalculus, and honors chemistry. During my sophomore year, I took honors geometry and algebra 2 and honors world history. I have recently registered for my senior year classes and I plan to take 4 more AP classes, 1 honors class and Spanish 3.
My handicap is a 6.8 and dropping. My handicap has been high due to the fact that I dealt with swing changes and setup changes because I switched coaches. Even though I had switched coaches, the results are improving. As of last year, it was very hard for me to break 80’s because of these changes but I have seen improvements by working hard on these changes and I have been able to break 80 multiple times this year. I am the type of player that never gives up despite shooting bad. During a tournament during my spring season, I shot a 45 on the front nine but was able to keep calm and shoot an even par, 36, on the back nine. I feel like I possess qualities and have the potential to compete in competitive environments.
Throughout the years I have golfed, I never lost a passion towards the game despite the rough patches. I continue to work on my golf game because I want to improve and I know that I can be a great golfer. I hope that my perseverance and dedication towards the game separates me from other golfers in my recruiting class. Please feel free to contact me anytime!
Thank You!
